Mongolia’s nomadic empire once spanned continents, and shaped human history.
Now, Mongolia is transforming.
Blending its rich cultural heritage with the modern day, this vibrant and youthful country is changing before our eyes.
It is now home to one of the fastest growing economies in the world with GDP growth of over 7% in 2023.
With a wealth of untapped resources, young, ambitious and welcoming people, and breath-taking natural landscapes, the country is ready to launch into the next decades.
Under the leadership of Prime Minister Oyun-Erdene, Mongolia has achieved a new era of political stability and forward-thinking governance. Since his appointment in 2021, he has undertaken historic reforms to ensure that Mongolia is ready for business and the next chapter of the country's development.
Prime Minister Oyun-Erdene’s vision for Mongolia is a prosperous nation backed by a strong middle class. He is working to transform Mongolia into a developed, high-income country by 2050. Key objectives and milestones under his plan include:
Diversifying the economy
By reducing reliance on mining, expanding Mongolia’s agriculture, tourism, and technology sectors.
Strengthening Governance and Rule of Law
By continuing the reform programme to ensure that Mongolian companies achieve recognised international standards of governance, transparency, and accountability.
Fostering Regional Leadership and Diplomacy
By positioning Mongolia as a key player in regional and global diplomacy.
Urban Development and Infrastructure
By modernising infrastructure to improve urban living standards and regional connectivity across Mongolia.
Education and human capital
By investing in education and skills training to build a competitive workforce.
The Prime Minister’s message is clear: Mongolia is ready for business.
Mongolia’s economy continues to go from strength to strength.
Strategic spending in social programs, infrastructure projects, and debt repayments have helped deliver one of the world’s fastest post-pandemic economic recoveries, with 24 per cent GDP per capita growth over the last four years.
The Government aims to continue this trajectory in 2025 and achieve the fastest growth across the Asia-Pacific.
Underpinned by its booming mining sector, Mongolia has the potential to become a global leader in critical minerals.
This future industry provides the foundation that drives growth across exciting new sectors, including renewable energy, telecommunications, space technology, and agriculture.
